hey! i was wondering if this whole “hero holidays” thiong will go on for 3 more years… my parents wont let me go until im old enough to go without them…they also disapprove of the fact that there will be the opposite sex going on the trip. ive reaqshured them that nothing of that topic will happen. AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST of my parents rules… i have to pay for it. so i just need to no……will you still be going on in three years?

We will definitely be going in three years. Regarding the opposite sex going on the trip it is not a problem - no shared rooms, we have a very strong code of conduct and we have a very high ratio (1:5) of leaders to students. Anyway, on the bright side at least 3 years will give you lots of time to plan how to fundraise for your trip!

You guys came to my school today, I just want to say that I thought you guys were all amazing, and I think what you’re doing is absolutely wonderful. I think it’s very important to have people like you sending teens such important messages, and even though some teens may not be effected by what you say, there are many that are. You’ve really got me to think and I thought your presentation was very heart-warming.

hey. you were recently at my school. and you really touched me. i’m 16. and im going through alot right now. i’m not sure how to deal with it. i have talked to my closest friend. but i still feel very alone. it’s scary cause i was never someone to become to emotionally confused.. i’m not someone that can easily talk to my parents eather. although it wasn’t always like that. i guess i just thought that i could explain things to someone that really don’t know me that great. and see if they could help.

You’ve been coming to my school in Newfoundland for the last 3 years or so and it’s always been awesome. Every year I find that your presentation makes such a difference in my life. I’ve been through so much crap that it would probably take ages to tell. From being abused, to having a depressed, drug selling father, to be bullied, my parents divorcing, and being depressed myself. I’d love to be able to share my story someday. It would be awesome to join your team. I’m really considering the Hero Holiday this summer. It would be the experience of a lifetime. I’d much rather do that then go on vacation. Hopefully I can fundraise some money, it would be great.

your group came to my school and i just wanted to let you know how insperational your presintaion was. I now know that no matter how much i get teased that I am an amazing person and i have so many good qualities.I also wanted to ask your advice if you know someone that is getting teased and you constantly stand up for them but its noit working, what can you do to change the situation? how can you make things better?

you guys were at my school today, Heritage Collegiate. i was really moved by it. i never really took heed to what was going on in the world. wow. now i know. and now i know i can’t say i have it bad. compared to the some of the world. i have it pretty good. well. i thought the presentation was AMAZING! i really learned something when Tina was talking about depression and that. i’ve been going through some stuff lately and i’ve been really down and depressed about it. i now have the courage to go to my mom and talk to her about it or go to the guidanec cousellor at school. thanks! you guys are wonderful!

my name is kaitlyn and today (about 2 hours ago, actually), you guys did a presentation at my school, marymount academy (yeah, the all girls school full of psychotic little grade 7s and 8s who wouldn’t stop fawning over hundredfold after the show… us grade 12s in the section upstairs have to much pride for that… lol) i do believe this has been my 3rd or 4th time seeing you guys do what you do i to this day i still find it amazing. this is my last year at marymount and thank goodness i get to stay for another year so i can see you guys again. your presentations are very inspirational and they touch the hearts of everyone i know. i hope you all keep doing what you do.
i remember last year when my aunt died and i was going through a huge state of depression, i just felt like i didn’t want to be here anymore. a few weeks after her death you guys came to marymount and your presentation helped me out so much. i can’t thank you enough.
as for hundredfold, you guys were AMAZING. and i think i may also write this on your myspace wall when you accept my friend request because you guys really were awesome. i think youmay have been the best band that i have heard traveling with absolute, although hello kelly was pretty awesome as well. i woudl have LOVED to bought a CD from you guys but unfortunately i used the only money i had today on my sitting fee for my grad pictures. so yeah, i suck. and did you guys ever notice that every guitar you have looks like a guitar hero guitar? even the basses do! i was sitting there, staring at the guitars rather than the gorgeous guys on stage! also, rejean has an AMAZING voice, and cody is an aweosme guitar player. will rocks on the bass (don’t hurt yourself climbing on the equipment lol), and alex… well you were very entertaining to watch. during the entire presentation. just sitting there in the back looking very… bored lol. but great job guys. i will definetely be ordering your cd for christmas.

I have 2 get something off my chest by telling u that U GUYS ARE SO FREAKEN FABULOUS, ur performances are absolutly FANTASTIC, and that KEITH is REALLY HOTT!!!!! I love u guys so much. u helped my friend realize that turning 2 drugs and alcohol isn’t the solution (she was addicted 2 cocane and she was also an alcoholic), because of guys she is now clean and has been clean for almost a year!! If it wasn’t for u guys my friend probably wouldn’t be here, u guys are my HEROES and I just want 2 say THANK U VERY VERY MUCH.

Hiya….. you guys and girl.. were awsome at my school…Roland Michener in Timmins. yess there are alot of hockey players! i love the advice that you guys gave us it was so insperational! i have had rough times at home.. the police were a constant thing at home and with three teenagers to take care of alone my mom didnt know how to disapline us so she used a higher authority. but if she hadnt we would be out of control. i know realize that i am loved and i have the best people you could have right here all around me. i am very thankful to have them and i thank the lord that you guys and girl.. came to our school today. its nov.27.. i am so excited to see you guys play again at the opend end youth group. that is where i go to on fridays and we talk about the lord and his blessings and play games..it has helped my brother and his difficult teenage days. my family is roman catholic but he has decided to become a christan. a little different but its good for him im proud. i thank my family that i am dealing with my depression and that it wasnt to late. again i say thank you ! all the best on your traveling. xo karen

hey guys, thanks so much for coming to rmss. That was really sad what happen to ReJean about the accident ouch!! Tina words really got to me about depression and thinking about suicide. I have been throught the whole suicide thing at least 5 or times and i am still getting help by counselor and the school. I am trying to get out of the whole drinking, drugs but it is so hard when you are being peer pressure but i can learn from my mistakes because i have lost 4 friends from drugs and suicides and i have change over the last 3 years snce they are gone. The presentation meant so much to me to hear all of the statistcics that was a real shocker. I hope that you guys can come back to see RMSS

Hey just wanted to say you guys were awsome it is so cool what your doing and your doing it through music. It is because of people like you who help me coop with this overwelming life. It seems like there is always problems they never end first it is one thing then that one leads to anothor ect. Anyway I hope you guys will continue and keep sending the good message thank you for the great show.
Each day i’d get told about how i am perfect in Gods eyes, and he doesn’t make any mistakes so i must look perfect in eyes. You know thats fine and all, but i don’t believe that at all. im an ugly 14 with no boyfriend or anything, each day at school i get called worthless, ugly, fat, and other names id rather not say. Each day that they say it the more i believe it. and now i do believe it everypart of it. i am worthless and deffintaly ugly. but i honestly didn’t think i was fat! 120 pounds 5′5! in the summer that just passed i struggled with weight i wouldn’t eat i’d throw up but then i came to realize i was just right and then this! being called FAT i hate it,i honestly thought i was just right but i guess not.
so i’ve been sexually assaulted, beaten, thrown down a flight of stairs, thrown in to a door and everything else!
When i think of this it makes me feel like those people
the close ones to me and the 1 i never ever knew, must think i am worthless, a piece of trash and everything else. Do you know what its like to feel like EVERYTHING is your fault and theres nothing you can do to fix it! It’s the WORST feeling i’ve ever felt, when your the let down in the family, ouch! It hurts
so what id to attempt to take away the pain, i’d cut, i did pot, i burned my self, i took pills to sleep it off, nothing was working it was just a temperary relife,
so i finally told someone. who was kinda naggin be about what was wrong so i told him, he’d call me to make sure i was okay when i was feeling suicidal we’d be on the phone not even saying a word! and id feel peace, to know SOMEONE cares even if it was just that one person, the one time i did attempt suicide i didn’t tell him till the next morning when i couldn’t understand why i was still alive i didn’t want a second chance i still don’t each day i struggle and now i have a 2 bestfriends that i tell everything to! i may not call this other person but when ever i see her i just let it all out. Alot of people on this site probably have never talked to anyone about there problems! i know what your going through! its hard to not trust anyone!
it really is. but you need to find at least 2 people that you can trust, and just vent! let it all OUT!
Im most sure i have depression, not certain but im thinking i do, Cutting is not the way out, i hadn’t cut in 3 weeks and then i got REALLY upset and i cut only 3 lines those and sence then its been 2 weeks for me
going from EVERYDAY 3 -4 times a day to not at all, is amazing,
DONT give up! what ever you do, talk to someone.
im only 14 dealing with this junk and i know its hard!

I really enjoy your stories. A lot of them relate to my friends and I. I saw your presentation today at Birchwood Intermediate School, and it was totally awesome. I thought that the band was fun, and you all seemed like totally nice people. Bravo. =]
Your group came to my school yesterday, and it was probably the most motivational performance I’ve ever seen; the most school spirit I’ve ever seen. There needs to be more groups like yours going around so that people can actually realize how important they are, and how much they can do to help other people. There was one speach at the end, and it said “One word can make a difference” as soon as that was said, my friend standing beside me put her arm around me and said “I love you.” It actually moved me a lot, just because of the timing of it all. We both felt really sad because of the Hero Holiday things, and wishing we could help. I know I’m going to read about it so that I can know more. The fact that The Goodbye Celebration was performing with you helped the school stay focused too. I think if they didn’t, a lot of people wouldn’t have paid as much attention as they did. By the end of it, I wanted to buy anything I could to help you guys, but I didn’t have any money. I especially wanted to buy a Hug. Knowing that 100% of the proceeds went to help other people made me want to buy one. if it was 50% I wouldn’t have wanted to buy one so much. I don’t know why. You guys did an amazing job, and I hope I get to see you perform somewhere else too.

The Goodbye Celebration was amazing, i love them! i love the message you guys send through, i’ve been through alot of stuff in my life, and well, you guys sort of helped me think through it…thankyou, you have no idea how much that helps! When i heard about one of the girls’ friends Brett.. omg I cried! And, omg! jsut thinking of some of the stuff you guys talk about, i just think about if someday i might do that… get up infront of a whole school, and jsut talk about what i’ve been through….maybe help some people… it sounds good to me! Thank God, I’m very grateful that you give us (youth) this opportunity to actually change something. Because we are so often told, that we are the new generation, and that were gonna change the world, but then they just leave us at a dead end. The only thing that I knew I could do was change my light bulbs(and I did). I’m so excited about Hero Holidays, it haunts me everyday. I want to go so badly!!! I’ve never been this excited in a while. But how do you fund raise. I’m not really sure how to raise money. I live in a small town with not a lot of opportunity. Theres not a lot I can do to raise money to go on a Hero Holiday. And another thing wouldn’t it be excruciatingly hot to go to Mexico in the summer??? Well these are pretty much my only concerns :D. This is gonna sound weird but the thing that really tied the knot, was you played coldplay on the last video

I just saw the show at our school on friday. It moved me. I was almost in tears when one of the representatives was telling his story. A lot of my friends were crying. I just wanted to let everyone know that the presentation really made an impact on my life. I’m trying to be more positive, and i’m trying to stick up for people being treated badly. I was part of a private HH group to mexico. It changed my life. It sounds cheesy, but I feel so privileged after building those two houses, and I am a happier person because of it. The people I met were the most amazing people in the world and I know there is no one else like them. The families were legitimately happy, and it was contagious. I came home with so many emotions, and sometimes it’s hard to keep my anger in check when I think about how unfair their lives are, but at the end of the day, I am happy for who I am and what I have. I don’t know how long it will last, but I am hoping forever. I was a a little bitter before. I don’t feel like that anymore, and it is thanks to this experience that I see things in a whole new way.

Hey Absolute,
Before this presentation, we never realized how bad these third world countries really have it but you guys deffinetly opened our eyes and us realize that we can help & will help. The videos in your presentation inspired us also, and like Megan said, “everyone has their own story” and now we realize what our stories are too.
Thanks for coming to our school. All your stories and real events that happened to you guys deffinetly moved and inspired us and I’m sure, many others too. We’re looking forward to looking at more information about those summer trips you guys mentioned to help out. We would love to do something like that in my life time and now we hopefully have the opportunity to do that now.

hey, you guys where just resently at my school Margret Twomey Public School of Marathon, Ontario and i was just checking out your website,of course here i am, because i am really interested in this hero holiday thing but i had no idea that Megan and JP where married when i saw that i just had to write about it i had no idea! lol i feel slow!

Ok, it’s early morning and we are just ariving at school, SUPRISE my teacher yells guess where we are going! We going up the hill to MTPS… greattt…. anyway so we get there and its all set up, MTPS is all in there and all we get is the back row. We see the performances and hear the speeches. I think it changed my life. I have always been cathloic/christian but it just made me want to do something. One story moved me more though. It was the story about being anorexic. My best friend had been anorexic for quite awhile and then got put in a hospital, finally she came back to reality and realized that being that way wasn’t good for her. I have been told that I’m good at writing stories and poems so she asked me to write one for her so she could remember why she isn’t that way. I would like to show you the poem that I wrote her. It’s an ode.
Counting:
Everyday, Everynight I’m counting,
The calories I don’t want to eat,
The hunger I’m drowning,
The numbers I will lessen and delete,
So much it hurts at night I can not sleep,
From food I will abstain,
I would do everything to be thin,
Before I eat I will lie in a heap,
My curse is my temptation, yet nothing is in vain,
My cure I begin…..

Hey, Think Day Team!
I spoke with a couple of you after your presentation at my school (Central Butte) today. Just wanted to say that you guys do a great job and I am SO incredibly inspired to just drop everything and go help less fortunate people. I am seriously considering a Hero Holiday this winter, and am also looking into the Absolute School of Leadership. Before today I wasn’t exactly sure what I would be doing after I graduate in the spring, I just knew that I wanted to help people. This program is exactly what I’ve been looking for.

Thanks for the message and we are glad you loved the show!! Definitely consider the Hero Holiday, it will change your out look on life. All our participants say that it is the most meaningful thing they have done with their life (so far) on all their evaluations. We are working to have all our public trip applications up and posted on the www.heroholiday.com website by the end of September 2010.
I find that our School of Leadership is great for students who want to make a difference in other peoples lives but don’t know what to do after high school or just with their life in general. The program really helps our students learn more about who they are as people and what they are passionate about. I was at the presentation you gave at Holy Spirit High, I was blown away. I could relate so well to everything you guys talked about, It was crazy. October 29th, 2010 Was the best day of my life. I got to be within arms reach of that band Bondless, and they were amazing. You’re struggles that you’ve been through are astounding, and you have my apologies at what happened to you. I really really hope you’ll be able to come. There’s to many issues going on at our school. Bullying, taunting, physical bullying, etc, etc. And it all goes practically unnoticed at our school. What you guys said, gave me an ENTIRELY new perspective on life. At how special it is, and if I lost two fathers within weeks of each other, I’d be devastated. Just like him. I love this organization. I’d love to get involved with everything. (: Keep up the amazing work at changing lives, Like mine.

hey guys, i just wanted to thank all of you . for first, creating this amazing group of people, who are willing to help others, and second, to help schools with so much passion ! You guys came to my school, last year in Edmundston, New-Brunswick, wich actually helped our school alot, we had way less bullying, less rumours, our school was basically more peacefull and plesent . i was able to actually be myself at school after you guys came . This year we are looking forward to having you guys at our school again . I will give you more news . Thank you alot, once again . i really apreciate all the work you guys do, i look up to you guys .

you guys came to my school not too long ago and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. The stories really made me think about my actions and the things I’ve been doing lately. I think it’s changed the way i view other people, i think about that maybe they have gone through something horrible like the stories that were told and i stop and think before i act. I loved the clips about change too, they’ve inspired me to get involved, and that’s why I’m here! The band was really cool too, that presentation was nothing like i expected it to be. It got me excited and inspired, so thank you guys so much for coming around to schools and talking to kids like me. You guys are amazing! I saw two of your presentations. One was in Cut Knife with the band The Ocean Burried, and the other was in Meadow Lake at a SLC Conference with the band Aberdeen. You guys are so inspirational.. I changed the way that I thought of myself and other.. I’m in a new school now, and it would be nice if we could get you guys to come out here again (:
